At XCAR we aim to provide students with exposure to research irrespective of their educational level. Our mission is to demonstrate how simple concepts, when scaled and applied effectively, can unlock a deep understanding of our Universe.
Our training curriculum is structured to ensure that students not only build a strong foundation of knowledge but also acquire the practical skills necessary to excel in advanced research and problem-solving.
We offer three distinct types of training programs, aligned with the membership type, ensuring that every learner has access to resources and opportunities that match their goals and aspirations.
We have plenty of educational reources for students that can be explored.
Basics of Astronomy and Astrophysics
The first component of our training is to introduce the basic concepts of astronomy and astrophysics. The topics introduced here include simple astrophysical models, units and measurements. This foundational knowledge is crucial for understanding more complex topics and for conducting meaningful research in the field.
For more details on the list of topics please refer this document.
Duration : 8 - 12 weeks
Assessment : Final Presentation
Certification : Available after final presentation.
(Application accepted on rolling basis)
Basics of Data Analysis + Intro to Machine Learning (ML)
In today's data-driven world, proficiency in data analysis is essential. Our training introduces the basics of data analysis and different statistical methods. We also provide an introduction to machine learning (ML) for application in astronomical data.
For detailed information on the list of topics and associated fees, please refer to this document.
Duration : 2 - 6 weeks
Assessment : Final Presentation
Certification : Available after final presentation.
(Application accepted on rolling basis)
In-depth Study of One Topic
Students who opt-in will engage in an in-depth study of a specific topic, determined by their chosen research project. While our aim is for every student to explore all topics, we recognize that this may not be feasible in practice.
For detailed information on the list of topics and associated fees, please refer to this document.

Research Project
Developing research skills is a cornerstone of our training program. This component is designed to introduce students to the foundational principles of how to conduct research. We have elaborated on this topic in our blog as well. While not exhaustive, this training provides students with an overview of key stages, from formulating research problems to effectively communicating results.
In this we also aim to train students on reading, writing and presentation with assistance on academic document such as CV and letters.
For information on associated fees, please refer to this document. We encourage you to explore our research areas and follow the steps outlined here to join us.
